"Keep our schools strong, our community connected, and every student supported."
Kathleen McCallum brings a calm, collaborative approach to school board conversations, focusing on students. A longtime volunteer and parent in the district, she champions thoughtful partnership, strong community engagement, and the belief that every student deserves both academic and emotional support.
Kathleen is an active and committed member of the Mendham Township community, demonstrating a strong dedication to enhancing local schools through cooperative efforts, transparent communication, and forward-thinking leadership. She spearheaded the launch of a virtual after-school math support program (Virtual Math Lab) at the Middle School—earning high praise from students, parents, and educators—and guaranteed its continued success beyond its first year. Partnering closely with faculty and administration, she also created the Parent & Community Speaker Panel, connecting students with a multi-faceted group of community members and life experiences which broaden their perspectives and inspire future possibilities.
As a parent of children in the district and a longtime PTO Board leader, Kathleen has forged strong relationships with school administrators at both the elementary and middle school levels, and is widely known for her approachable, solutions-oriented style.
Through her work on the PTO, Kathleen has led fundraising efforts to raise $75,000–$80,000 annually to support programs, teacher initiatives, and student experiences. She has fostered a culture of community engagement, improved communication channels, and created events and policies that reflect inclusivity, creativity, and accountability. Her work consistently reflects a deep respect for teachers and a belief in supporting them as the foundation of a thriving school system.
Professionally, Kathleen brings a strong background in big law, finance, and insurance, having worked at Skadden Arps, Goldman Sachs, and Chubb among others. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Law and currently serves on the Mendham Township Finance Advisory Committee, where she offers thoughtful insight into budgeting and long-term planning.
Kathleen is running for the Board of Education to continue building on the progress she has helped lead—supporting students and educators alike, encouraging open dialogue, and ensuring that every family feels seen, heard, and valued.
Her platform is grounded in transparency, teacher support, and community engagement. Running with Allison Fox Barratt and Diana Orban Brown encapsulates that exact sentiment.
